Let’s dink on in!

Tournament of the Week

Liveball, one of our favorite Austin tournament operators, is running their first event at Dreamland on Sunday, September 8th.

The Dripping Springs Mini Doubles Tournament will feature 4 men’s doubles divisions and 3 women’s doubles divisions, with a 4 game guarantee for the $65 registration fee ($55 if completed by Saturday August 31) and cash prizes for winners.

League of the Week

Capital City Pickleball, one of the premiere social clubs for pickleball in Austin, is back for season 2 of their league at Waterloo Pickleball.

The 7-week league runs September 9 through October 21, and includes intermediate (3.0-3.9) and advanced (4.0+) divisions that take place on Sunday or Monday night depending on division. Players have the options to register with a team of 3 players for $210 or as an individual for $80, and includes prizes for each division.

Urban Pickleball Expands South to Barton

Urban

Urban Pickleball Club, downtown Austin’s rooftop pickleball club first covered in APU Volume 8, is expanding to a second location. The new location, aptly named Urban Pickleball Barton, is located at 1221 S MoPac Expy just south of Bee Caves Road.

Players can access the courts via the top of the parking garage, and the courts are open and available today for booking via OpenCourt

Urban Pickleball is collaborating on this project with Riverside Resources, a privately-held real estate investment firm that is currently renovating the office buildings next to the courts. When renovations complete, the site will include a cafe during weekday business hours as well as access to the two pickleball courts with amazing views of Texas Hill Country.

Pickleball

Urban Pickleball will own and operate these courts on a monthly membership basis, as well as offer paid hourly play for non-members. Membership runs $99/month with a one-time $199 initiation fee, and members can reserve a court for up to 2-hours at a time as part of their membership.

For non-members, court rates run $40/hour on weekdays from 6-10:30am, 4-10pm, and on weekends. Court prices run $20/hour on weekdays from 10:30am to 4pm. Non-members who choose to play hourly will be able to book time through OpenCourt, where they will receive a court lock and instructions once time is booked.

The club plans to set up weekly open play in the near future, as well as host events for members and the pickleball community.

Barton

While this is the second location for Urban Pickleball, it is important to note that memberships for Urban Pickleball locations are unique and separate. This means that membership to either Urban Pickleball Club downtown or Urban Pickleball Barton will only get you access to that location. Urban Pickleball shared that they are considering what a combined membership model could look like in the future.

We described Urban Pickleball Club downtown as an “enchanted pickleball oasis”, and judging by the photos of Urban Pickleball Barton, it feels like the club is successfully continuing to bring unique pickleball experiences to the Austin pickleball community.
