Vote for the 2024 Austin Pickleball Update Awards!

The 2024 Austin Pickleball Update Awards highlight and recognize the very best of pickleball in Austin, including clubs, courts, coaches, communities, events, and more.

These awards are by the Austin pickleball community, for the Austin pickleball community, and voting is completely community driven. 

Voting is open for the month of December 2024 across different categories of pickleball in Austin, and you can vote now using the form below. Each unique email can vote once.

The 2024 Austin Pickleball Update Award winners will be announced on December 30th in APU Volume 30, our last newsletter of the year.

Tournament of the Week - Scramble Sunday @ Eastside

Scramble Sunday at Eastside Paddle Club features play with different people in your division, with top players advancing to the playoffs after several rounds. Start times vary, with lower divisions starting at 10am and higher ones starting around 1pm.

This is a great tournament to meet and play with others around your level. Registration runs $15 through today 12/19, $20 through 12/25, and $25 until the day of tourney, in addition to a $10 guest fee if you are not a member at ESPC. Register here.

Community News

Dreamland Facility Closing

Dreamland announced via email that the facility will be closing at the end of the year. Per the club, “the owners have made the difficult decision to take Dreamland in a new direction, and as a result, Dreamland will be closing its doors at the end of this year, for good.”

Dreamland will be open through the rest of 2024, culminating in a "End of an Era at Dreamland Bash" that will take place on the last day they are open, Tuesday December 31st. More details on the event will be shared by the club in the coming days.

The Picklr Round Rock Announces Opening Date

The Picklr Round Rock, located at 3021 S I-35 Frontage Rd #240, Round Rock, TX, has announced their grand opening date for Saturday, January 18th, 2025.

The new facility will features 8 full sized courts along with a skinny singles courts and warm up area, two lounges, pro shop with demo paddles, and fully equipped locker rooms. Discounted Founder Memberships will be available until the grand opening.

Eastside Paddle Starts Rooftop Build

Eastside Paddle Club announced that they have started construction on their four rooftop courts. The club expects the courts to launch and be operational in early 2025.

Cranky Pickle Adds Courts

The Cranky Pickle in New Braunfels announced that they will be adding three new courts to their facility starting in December, for a total of six courts. The new courts are expected to be completed by May 2025, and the facilities current courts will remain available during construction.
